Children are seen and valued for their amazing gifts and abilities to do meaningful work, wonder, and play. We celebrate the growth and development of each child while building a community of learners who practice respect for oneself, each other, and the environment. At First Impressions Preschool, we believe children learn best by doing! We implement a play-based, emergent curriculum while incorporating Montessori components. Our integrative approach focuses on the process of learning while fostering the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. We provide rich materials and experiences that match children's individual interests and understanding. By meeting their individual needs, interests, and abilities and by celebrating their growth we help build a positive self-esteem so children can feel good about themselves and the world around them.

Fun Loving Nanny Available!

Hello!

I am looking for a new family to care for. I have been a Nanny for the past 4 years. I am 28 years old, married and have a 10 month old son.  My son will be coming with me, but your chidren will always get the best of care when I am in your home. You will always come home to a clean house.

I am with a family 42 hours a week. I watch 3 boys ages 1, 6, & 9.  My duties include; meal prep for children, changing diapers, helping with homework and reading, light household chores, driving kids to and from school.  I love this family but am needing to find something with less hours . I live in Downtown Vancouver, on the I-5 side, so close in Portland or Vancouver would be the best areas.

I am looking for a laid back fun family! I love to make sure the kids get outside and play instead of sitting in front of the tv. I am not totally against tv but like to keep it very limited. I have a zoo membership so I would enjoy taking the kids!  I like to read, play board games, color and paint for those rainy cold Portland days.

I would love to talk with you more in detail! Please email me: lisamdempsey@gmail.com

Thanks!

Fun Experienced Morning Nanny

May 31, 2012

Are you looking for an experienced, fun, loving nanny to watch your little ones?

I am a full time nanny with 8 years experience and excelent references. I grew up on a small island in the San Juans, WA, where I spent most of my time outside. I think it is paramount for children to get as much time in nature as possible, even if it is only their own backyard. I currently work for two families in the portland area which fills about half of my week, and am looking to add one more family in the mornings starting the middle of June 2012. One of the families I work for now have two boys, 4 1/2 and 6, and they are two balls of energy, as well as daredevils. I have been with them for almost 3 years. The other family has a 3 year old girl and a 8 year old boy. I mostly only watch the younger one since the older one is in school most of the time, although I did watch him when he was younger, and still spend some time with him aswell. I have been with them for the past 3 years, and for a year previously with their son. the children I am with now are all about preschool age, but I love working with infants and toddlers aswell.

My childcare philosophy is simple. Possitive reinforcement. I find that they respond more to it than timeouts or scolding. Some children need a firm hand though, and I will use a timeout if it is needed (1 min. per year of child's age), along with clear comunication of expectaions. I find that if the kids are kept busy and engaged then misbehavior tends to happen less often. Plus, they have more fun, which in my opinion is one of the most important parts of being a kid.

I am an animal lover, I live with two cats at the moment and grew up with dogs, chickens, ducks, goats, and horses, so even a big crazy dog won't really faze me.

If interested please contact Laurel at lgstoft@gmail.com.

All Areas of Portland, FT/PT, Live Out

Love light and Blessings from me to you. My name is Alexandra Lewis and I am moving to the amazing city of Portland. I am moving there to practice yoga privately with a master and study Tango. I want to get my name out here in the Portland Child Care stratosphere so I could eventually match up with an awesome family. Here is a little bit about me:
I teach and perform for children ages 4-18. My babysitting experiences include children from new born and up. I currently work for a Certified Baby Sitting Company. Though I work for a Certified Baby Sitting Company, I am seeking out my own private business when I move to Portland. I mention the Certified Baby Sitting Company because I have had to pass ongoing background, criminal, and driving record tests; I have had to pass these tests for many of the jobs I have had in the past few years. I am also certified in CPR and First Aid.
My day job is performing and educating in schools. When school is out, I usually to teach classes at theatre schools or camps. I teach basic theatre, Shakespeare, movement, voice, and miscellaneous creative work . I am used to dealing with 10 or more kids at one time; sometimes the classes I teach have been up to 16 children. I also work as a performer with a children's theatre company called Imaginationmakers; please feel free to check out their website. We bring theatre to schools all over Colorado. The shows we bring to the schools are purely written by children. We also go to the schools and workshop the kids writing with the kids themselves. They get to see the process of us, the actor/educators turning their words and poetry to theatre. This is a company that best exemplifies why I love to work with children through theatre and creative process. Kids benefit from creative expression because their creative juices are flowing, they learn to write comprehensively, learn the process of overcoming challenges in order to turn out work with integrity, they learn how to achieve accomplishment, they learn to communicate with groups, and learn that working can be fun.
I taught dance as an assistant when I was in middle school and as an adult. I studied, ballet (pointe), jazz, tap, clogging, lyrical, and belly/veil dance. At University I studied jazz, African dance, and Modern.
I practice yoga on a regular basis and it is a high priority to be active.
I am American; my parents are from the south. They raised my brother and I over seas in the Middle East. I grew up in a family oriented international community. I grew up traveling the world and was introduced to many cultures. My childhood activities included: swim team, dance, soccer, volleyball, softball, basketball, piano, voice, acting, and horseback riding (dressage). Though I only practice some of these activities in my life now, I do retain some knowledge of them. I have no problem jumping back into any of these activities if that interests a kid I am babysitting.
I went to high school at Brooks, a college preparatory boarding school in North Andover, Massachusetts. I spent a gap year at school in Oxford, England before coming to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder. In college I continued to study dance and theatre. I am very fond of the Spanish language. I have traveled to Spanish speaking countries and have been able to get around very well on the part of the language I know. I feel that I could easily tutor or help in lower levels of Spanish.
I am proficient at cooking; I cook at least two meals a day. I am vegetarian and avoid gluten when possible. However, I have no issue with cooking or serving meat. If you want your children to learn how to cook certain things, I would love to teach them.
I love arts and crafts; crafting was a big part of my childhood. I also love field trips. Taking kids to the library, parks, dog parks, trails, going to the pool, children's activities around town, museums, story times, and other activities that get kids out of the house is one of my favorite things to do.
My intention is to find an amazing family before I move to Portland. My move date is extremely flexible; I would like to move as soon as possible. I am available for multiple Skype (video online) interviews as well as phone interviews. I would be willing to travel if a family is serious about hiring me. Please call 720 352 4280 or email professionalalex@gmail.com Love light and blessings.

Experienced Nanny - inner SE or NE, 20-30 hrs/wk

May 29, 2012

Our nanny, Martha, is available for a new family (or families for a nanny-share) starting in June 2012. She is a wonderful nanny with 30+ years of experience who has been great for us at taking care of 2 boys in a nanny share from ages 12 months through 26 months, plus an 8-year old after school.  She also has experience with many other ages of children from infants through grade school. Martha is kind and engaging with children, and enjoys sharing reading, art projects, music and walks with children as well as ensuring good naps.  She is very punctual and dedicated.

Martha does not drive, so she would like to find a family that lives within a reasonable bus ride from her home near SE 30th and Stark (Laurelhurst Park) in close-in SE or NE.  Currently she works for us near SE 36th and Division.  She works for us 3 days a week, about 27 hrs/wk and would prefer to keep a similar part-time schedule in the future although has flexibility on the days and times. She is available to work hours between 7:30 am - 5:30 pm on weekdays. She is extremely reliable!  If you would like to contact Martha, her email address is marthalassen -at- msn.com .  You can also contact me as a reference at jbw.oregon -at- gmail.com .

LOVING, EXPERIENCED & RELIABLE MONTESSORI NANNY AVAILABLE NOW!

Hello!

Are you interested in having your own experienced Montessori nanny for your child? I am an experienced Montessori teacher trained at The Montessori Institute of Minnesota, with a Masters degree in Education and Child Development from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. Before this I was most recently a teacher at a local Montessori elementary school, and prior to that taught at the Montessori Children's Community in the Dominican Republic. I also have over five years experience as a nanny from birth to age four, and have over ten years experience working with children between the ages of birth to age 12. I have reliable transportation and am willing to work throughout the Portland metro area.

What I have done before has sometimes gone beyond *just* child care (though it certainly has included it!). I have been a more tradititional nanny, but I have also developed what is more akin to in-home preschool/ elementary school with a large dose of silliness and fun. I love assisting children in their own discoveries and activities, such as art, cooking, gardening/plant care, flower arranging, the Spanish language, and much much more depending on the needs and interests of each unique child.

Should you be interested, I am also offering an additional service wherein I can create an age-appropriate Montessori environment in your home, which maximizes your child's independence and fosters opportunities for learning. This can be accomplished on almost any budget.

I am infant/child CPR and first-aid certified and bilingual (Spanish), and am currently seeking full time work. I am also willing to do some evening/weekend work.

I look forward to meeting and working with you and your children!

MOM OFFERING PART TIME CARE
Hi,

I'm a mom to a 3.5 year old and a 10 year old. I'm also a student at PSU working towards my MSW (social work) and have a DHS background check, child welfare experience, as well as experience with kids with ASD and ADHD. I'm looking to provide part time care to a child near my daughter's age (2-5ish). I'm open to varied situations or hours, but would like to do care in my home. I'm available evenings (including date night!), weekends, overnights, or day hours during the summer. In addition, although once school starts up again I won't be available during weekday days, I will continue to be available on weekends and evenings after the summer, if you're looking for someone long term for drop in care.

Generally we spend our days playing at the school/park next door, going to water play areas, library programs and things like that. I live close in NE, not far from downtown. We usually take the bus places or walk. My daughter loves to color and draw, art projects, dressing up, riding bikes and dancing. She's looking forward to meeting new friends!

If interested in talking more feel free to email me at jc97210@gmail.com

Thanks!

Experienced, Waldorf Inspired Nanny Available Part Time

 Hello Portland parents!  Congratulations on your decision to hire a nanny -- you have taken the fist step towards developing a potentially wonderful relationship for both yourselves and your child(ren).  I am excited to be a part of your nanny search, so let's get started!

 First, a little about myself: I am a 28 year old woman with a BFA and a license in Massage Therapy. I have lived in Portland for the last five years after growing up in Texas and spending four years attending university in Canada. I attended a Waldorf school for the entirety of my education before college and I subsequently worked closely with Waldorf teachers in a kindergarten setting. The Waldorf philosophy of childcare and education is deeply ingrained in me and strongly influences my own style with children.  I have nannied for four families in Portland and still have wonderful relationships with all of them.

 I have been working with children for over twelve years and have experience with kids aged 4 months to 16 years. For the last five years I have been nannying for infants and toddlers so I have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with first-time parents going through their baby's first couple of years. I would also love to work with preschool aged children. I am a strong believer in the value of free play, story time, art projects, and exploring nature as some of the best activities for children.  I am very hands on with my little ones and committed to helping them through whatever they're dealing with at the time.  I am working hard to care for them even when I'm not with them: thinking up new crafts and songs, looking for new library books or story times, or reading child development books to help me be a better nanny. (In short, my kids are always on my mind!)  I have experience with using breast milk, cloth diapering, cooking healthy meals for little tummies, sleep training, potty training, and baby sign. I am CPR certified and have taken First Aid courses many times over the years.

 Here's a little about what I am looking for in a family:  My ideal family would be one that is gentle and loving, values organic, whole foods over fast food, books over TV, and seeks to fill their child(ren) with a sense of the spirit that connects us all. They would have a commitment to having as few plastic and battery powered toys in their home as realistically possible and encourage imagination as the greatest toy of all! However, this perfect family would also understand that children need (and actually thrive with) limits and would not have trouble implementing rules, schedules, and routines. They would be a family looking not just for an employee, but for a partner in raising their child(ren), and would value my knowledge and experience with children as a resource that they could draw on throughout their parenting journey.

 Now, let's talk details!  Here are the logistics of what I am looking for:

-- I would like to work about 2-3 days a week, around 20-30 hours per week.  I am available Tuesday-Friday, and I do need a consistent schedule.

-- I would prefer to work in close-in NE Portland, although close-in SE, N, or Downtown may also work.

-- I do not own a car and would prefer a position that does not involve driving. I enjoy taking the kids out for walks in strollers or slings or on their own two legs so it would be great if you lived near a park or other fun activities. I am also very TriMet savvy and regularly take my little ones on bus and MAX adventures to the library, zoo, children's museum, and play dates.

-- My rate is $13/hour for one child.  I know that finding quality child care can be cost prohibitive for many families so I am more than happy to discuss the idea of a nanny share!

-- Your child must be able to nap by him/herself or you must be actively working toward this goal

 If you are interested in having me as a nanny, please know that I will offer a safe, nurturing environment for your child to learn and grow. The families that I have already worked with in Portland would be more than happy to talk to you about me. However, these people have become my friends and I am very protective of their privacy; therefore, I will not be handing out their phone numbers until after completing interviews for this position. I am more than happy to send you a complete resume before we meet. Please respond via email with a detailed description of your needs (number of children, area of town, hours/days needed, general parenting philosophy/style, etc.) and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

 Thank you for your time and enjoy your search -- your perfect nanny is on her way!

Looking for inner NE/SE family for infant nanny-share

May 24, 2012

We are looking for another family with an infant in inner SE/NE (near Laurelhurst)  to do a nanny share beginning in July/Aug.  We will need care part time, 20-24 hours preferably over 4 days for our daughter born in April.  We also have a 3.5 year old son who will be in preschool.   Our vision of the nanny share is some or complete overlap in the hours (both infants with the nanny at the same time to share costs).   This would work whether you need FT or PT care.  We don't have a nanny yet but have started looking.   Ideally we would find one together and commit through the end of next summer (2013).

We have a modest home with a play room and fenced back yard and would be open to hosting or splitting time at houses.  We encourage simple activities like walks/outside/pool time, books, music, library visits, etc.   Our two nannies in the past (for our son) were reliable, easy to communicate with, and active with the little ones.

If you are interested please email me at ewersing (at) yahoo.com.

Emily

Amazing nanny available part-time.

Our wonderful nanny, Emily, is looking to work with another family in addition to ours. She has watched my 4 1/2 year old son and my 2 1/2 year old daughter for the past year. She has watched the children of the other family with whom she works for the past 4 years, and is only looking for another family to work with due to that family's upcoming move out of state. Emily is extraordinarily reliable, loving and engaging, and my children and whole family LOVE her. From the moment that my children met her, they felt at ease and were eager to be left in her care. Emily is flexible, honoring of our family's parenting style, and an amazing communicator with us and our children. She takes our children on adventures to OMSI, the zoo and parks, and always delights the children in our home. She has several years of experience working with children, and has worked in a preschool before becoming a nanny. Emily always leaves our house clean and the children are always sad to see her leave. She has become part of our family and is looking for another family with whom she can have a loving relationship. She is looking for a position that is 20 or more hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I highly recommend her. You can email her directly at emily4685@yahoo.com and of course, I am available as a reference.

Affordable Portuguese immersion in home childcare:NOW ENROLLING!!

Hello, my name is Karla Normington. I am from Brasil and live in Portland since June, 2007. In the past I have worked as an assistant in a daycare and Nanny. I have great references. These responsibilities included:

* Supervision of infants, toddlers, and school age children
* Planning and implementing creative activities
* Setting up play dates
* Driving children to and from school and other activities
* Providing a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment
* Attending to physical and emotional needs of children
* Helping children with daily routines such as toileting, dressing, eating, bathing and sleeping
*Cooking healthy Brazilian/American meals
*CPR/ First AID certification
*Food handle
*Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse Neglect training

After working for years as a Nanny I decided to open my in home day care that will be running for me . The day care will offer full- and part-time enrollment. . We are a full Portuguese immersion program. All meals and snacks will be included (I will provide healthy made from scratch food for the children everyday), as well a detailed curriculum outlines each week, periodic assessment of your child's development and photos to document your child's experiences away from home. The environment is safe, clean, friendly, and inviting!
There is a large indoor and outdoor play area full of toys to increase their thinking skills.
The toys I have are all educational crafts, puzzles, books, games, toys, etc. So even as the kids are playing, they are learning.
My goal is to provide a loving, happy, educational and safe environment for children. I strive to enrich each child with a love of learning, positive self-image, and a sense of creativity and imagination. I hope to create a nurturing environment to promote creativity! I try to recognize teachable moments throughout a daily schedule. I incorporate music, art, and stories in a daily routine! The first language spoken in our day care is Portuguese. We will bring and teach Brazilian culture without losing the American. Our goal is to teach both cultures showing the differences/commonalities between the two Countries. My Mom is a Portuguese teacher in Brasil and she is sending me a lot of materials so I can use here with the kids.
Our programs balance child-initiated and activities, nutritious meals, snacks, rest time and outdoor/indoor play.

Our Philosophy:
We believe:

· Children are competent, capable and have unlimited potential;
· Children benefit from both routine and spontaneity, self-initiated play and teacher planned activities;
· Children construct their own understanding of concepts, based on their world as well as interactions with adults;
· Children need opportunities to make meaningful choices within clear boundaries;
· Children grow though collaboration, community and being treated as individuals with strengths interests and needs.
Our process:

· Creativity;
· Self-Expression;
· Hands on activities;
· Sensory Oriented activities.
Our Environment:

· Space are designed for children’s needs;
· Highest standards of cleanliness and safety;
· Soft spaces and warm atmosphere

What our families have to say about us:

"I'm writing this email to thank Brigit's teachers for being so sweet to her while she attended Grandma's place, particularly, Stephanie. She still talks about her everyday and says how much she loves her and frequently carries the card around that she made her. Today she yelled at her dad with the card in her hand "don't ever throw this away, it would make me cry, Stephanie is the best and she made this for me!" and I just about cried! I had a rough time in every childcare center my mom put me in growing up and to know Brigit was so happy when I was away from her makes me feel so good. We will be going to Europe for the summer! And before I started preparing for that, I wanted to be sure to thank you all. Thanks again to everyone for your kindness to my little one, she's had such good (and hilarious) things to say about her experience and grandma's place!"

"I am SO happy with the care and attention my child receives at your facility that I am willing to commute out of my way to get her there, even though there is a daycare across the street from our apartment. Keep up the spectacular work!"

"It's very close to my house, and when I came for a tour, I was pleased to hear about the educational focus--it's not just babysitting, but my child will learn all kinds of skills--social and academic. I also liked that the director was willing to spend so much time showing me around and answering my questions during my tour."

Experienced, fun, loving nanny available PT

Are you looking or for and experienced, fun, loving nanny?
